Turfing

The process of turfing starts with good preparation. We always remove any unwanted material before rotavating the soil. We then level the area while incorporating some additional top soil. Premium turf is then used to complete.

When To Lay Turf

Why Timing Is Essential

Understandably the majority of people are enthusiastic to replace or have new lawns installed in the spring & summer months when they are making good use of their gardens. Whilst this idea is feasible it can provide mixed results.

Whilst summer installations are possible it is important to recognise the benefits of waiting until the autumn or early spring for such projects.

These benefits include;

  • Cooler temperatures which allows for stronger rooting of the new turf, which creates a stronger, healthier lawn for the following spring.
  • Less mowing, which gives the new lawn a chance to settle before any regular mowing or foot traffic disturbs it.
  • Less likely to use the garden so allows the lawn to settle in without any heavy use.
  • Less watering required. Think of all of the benefits for the environment by not having to excessively water your new lawn.
